A technique developed in France in1932 by Emi and Estrid Vodder used to move lymphatic fluid and to help drain lymphatic fluid from tissues.
Through a pumping and stretching effect on lymphatic vessels, fluid is drained from edematous (swollen) conditions including LYMPHAEDEMA and VENUS EDEMA.
Indirectly it may also affect the immune system. By assisting lymph flow, MLD is thought to bring pathogens to the lymph nodes more quickly where they can be neutralized.
It can also help a patient to recuperate from chronic illness by allowing their parasympathetic nervous system to predominate. Manual Lymph Drainage can be utilized in the treatment of many different conditions including: |
